Eight Maids-A-Milking — The Eighth Day of Christmas

One of the most elaborate pieces in Jay Strongwater's 12 Days of Christmas Collection, the Eight Maids-A-Milking Glass Ornament transforms the eighth verse of the classic Christmas carol into a remarkably detailed miniature scene.

Rather than simply depicting eight figures, this sculptural ornament creates an entire snow-covered Christmas dairy barn, with the maids gathered around it carrying milk jugs, pails and vessels. Each woman is individually dressed in colorful traditional-inspired clothing, giving the piece wonderful character from every angle.

At an impressive 7.5 inches tall, this is also a substantial statement ornament.

Mouth-blown by Old-World glass artisans in Poland, the ornament is meticulously hand-painted with enamels and glitter before being embellished with hand-set Swarovski® crystals. Rich reds, emerald greens, jewel blues, pinks and gold accents stand beautifully against the snowy white barn.

Turn the ornament around and an entirely different group of figures appears, making the craftsmanship especially impressive. This is truly a piece meant to be viewed from all sides.
