The Croeseid was the first PURE gold coin that allowed people to have faith in the money they were using. Because the gold coins were pure and their value was guaranteed by the state, the people of Lydia were able to fairly trade and exchange goods and services. The man quite literally created the first reliable and standardized monetary system.
